Alfred Coia, 85, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at home. He was the beloved husband married to Diana (Rosati) Coia for 60 years. He was born in Filignano, Italy, the son of Antonio and Maria Coia.

Alfred worked for Quonset Point Naval Air Station for many years and then finished out his career as a government worker for the United States Postal Service Providence, Rhode Island. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was stationed in California and was honorably discharged and also received a good conduct medal.

He was a devoted and loving father to Donna Coia, David Coia, and Debora Del Gizzo, and her husband Robert. He was also a loving grandfather to Jon and David Del Gizzo and Deanna and Ava Coia. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren and his love and dedication will be missed forever. He was preceded in death by sister Angelina and brothers George, Carmino, and Guarino Coia, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins including a very special person to him, Gloria Gabriele , who opened her home to Alfred and his brother George when they first arrived from Italy to the United States as teenage boys.

He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was a true nature lover. He especially loved his work in the garden. He will always be remembered for stories that he would tell about adventures that he lived with great enthusiasm and passion. Services will be private.
